A semi-uneventful day at work; today was only made so much better by my cute outfit. I was getting tired of wearing the same old shirt with capri pants that I get from my sister; I wanted to dress more like myself! For one, I had wanted to wear the new pinafore I had bought from Forever 21; then one thing sort have led to another in the styling portion and I came up with a really cute, spooky outfit! On top of that, I got a cute skeleton henna tattoo at the county fair last weekend, which added extra depth to my outfit. I can't wait to start dressing like this again when I go back to school!
Apologies in advance for some of the pictures being blurry; my sister took those pictures.

Patches for Sale
Today I finally got to do what I've been wanting to do for the past year: start my own Etsy shop! I short while ago I bought a screenprinting kit on eBay, and let me tell you, I'm hooked! And as an aspiring textile designer, I thought screenprinting was a great start to my budding dreams of starting my own little clothing line. I know I have a long way to go, so I figured I start small.
For sale is a made to order Creep Patch, screenprinted by yours truly. This patch is 5 inches x 7.5 inches of canvas fabric, and the design was printed using hand cut paper stencils. As of now, I only have enough fabric to make six more patches at the moment, but if I'm successful enough, I hope to make many more! I really hope that with your help guys, I can make my dream of starting my own business a dream come true. I'd really love your support; and I hope to see you guys wearing all of my creations!

Mall Trip!
I had a day off from work today because I had a doctor's appointment (Spoiler Alert: I cried the whole time there; I do not have not many good memories of going to the doctor.) When I came home I was still feeling pretty crummy, and more importantly, tired. So after a two hour nap, I was feeling a little better, but soon realized half of my day off was already over. I needed retail therapy, fast, and I had a $25 gift card my aunt had given me for my birthday, so I decided, why not go to the mall?
Now recently, I haven't been too crazy about going to the mall. Since going to school in the city, I've been spoiled with the opportunity to go to these amazing stores, where the clothes were cheaper, and you can more easily buy something that somebody else won't have (which is a really big deal in fashion school); so you imagine how these days, I'm not particularly wowwed by any of the items they sell at the mall, aside from the fact it's all a bunch of hipster shit being bought by a preteens who have their parents tag along so they can buy whatever they want. But considering there's not much else to do in my part of Jersey, I gave in; and I was pleasantly surprised! Nordstrom was having their anniversary sale -which a couple years ago, used to be a calendar worthy of mine and my mother's- and found a really cute bag for only $9! Plus, I also fell in love with a crop top that had reminded of a The Soft Moon album. In all honesty though, one of the best finds today was this black and white striped pinafore dress from Forever 21. Now, I know I would be shunned by my FIT peers for shopping at F21, and the store does certainly fall under that "hipster shit bought by the parents of whiny children" category, but I was considering buying a dress like this on eBay anyway, and it was actually cheaper and more convenient for me to buy it at the store. The other two were finds I just liked elsewhere.
I was relatively pleased by how the latter half of my day off went. Now I never want to go back to work.

Dressed up to stay at home.
It's a litte rainy out today, and I'm not really expected to much of anything today; so today's outfit is fairly simple, but it is also nice to wear when you actually are doing something today.
Now of course, I made it so that this outfit could be easily converted into one you can wear in the colder months. If that were the case I would pair this ensemble with a beanie with any graphic of your choice (mine just happens to be the Mishka Cyrillic Skully- but I figure I could also just pair this with a beret if I were so inclined) a faux leather jacket, black thigh socks and maybe a different pair of shoes. But this look can be easily diversified so that your one outfit can be many- the possibilities are endless!

"You've got mail!": Mishka 4th of July Sale
For those of you who don't know Mishka is an urban street brand based in Brooklyn, NY; it's predominately menswear, but after having seen how a lot of girls wear the brand, I became more interested. Last week they had had an incredible 4th of July Sale that had items that were up to 70% off (which is something I always look out for, since some of their stuff is too expensive for my own good). I actually got the package yesterday, but had forgotten to show you guys what I had bought! So here's a little preview:
Not gonna lie, I don't really consider a lot of the stuff on their website to be "my style"-although I do like a lot of their products and would buy them if I had more money- but one of their many graphics I am so in love with is their Keep Watch eyeball. So one of the things I was looking for when shopping was a shirt that had solely featured this cute little cornea, and lucky for me, I had found one that was only $12.
The other shirt I had purchased was one that with which I immediately fell in love. First off, it had my favorite eyeball on it; but the design of the shirt was somewhat reminiscent of something I could possibly find in the post-punk, cold wave style that I've come to love and become more intrigued by everyday. This item was one of the few items that actually wasn't on sale-which made me so mad- but then I was just like, "Fuck it." and bought it anyway. After all, this was a shirt that haunted me in my sleep until I finally decided to make the purchase.
Also not pictured, are cute little buttons that were only $5, plus a free sticker that is in all honesty, too cute and too awesome for me to actually put on something. But that being said, the quality of these products are phenomenal, and I highly recommend you take a look at their website.

It's a Girl!
Today's my 20th birthday! And for today's outfit, I decided to add a little color to my wardrobe to help make my day extra special!
Ignore the derp face please. |
I don't know about you guys but I am absolutely IN LOVE with these pastel color block shorts I got from American Apparel. They're the perfect fit and super comfy; not only that but I decided to wear them on my birthday because they are the exact same colors as the bed sheets I've had since I was a baby- so in a way, you can say I grew up with these colors, which is pretty cheesy in itself. I don't really have too much else to say really; I just really love this outfit.

And finally, here's a little birthday selfie, simply because I can.

"You've got mail!" HUF socks
Just got these in the mail today; they're the HUF Plantlife socks that's been plaguing everyone's Tumblr.- but with good intentions, of course.
Originally I didn't care too much for these socks; yes I smoke weed, but not so much it's become a lifestyle for me- although I'm really hoping to change that soon enough. I didn't care so much for the skating culture either; but there are so many kids who skate at FIT and in the city that I've become enthralled with it (that, and that Larry Clark's KIDS is one of my favorite movies of all time). And soon enough everyone had a pair of these socks, including some of my good friends, that in the end, I hopped on the bandwagon. I will say this though; these are socks are high quality, and they only cost $12 (w/o shipping and handling, which is definitely worth mentioning since total it was about $21). And just look at how great they look on my feet!

These socks are well worth the money; and because they have pictures of cannabis leaves on them, everyone will automatically think you're cool!

Happy Birthday America!
This Fourth of July I appear to be stuck at home again; my original plan to go up to Brooklyn for a friend's party didn't fall through because my parents only wanted me to stay so long because I have work tomorrow. Not gonna lie, I'm pretty bummed, but that didn't stop me from wearing a cute outfit.
Originally, I was going to wear a different outfit for the party I was supposed to go to; however, that outfit was simply too nice to wear just to stay home. So I modified it a bit: I decided to still wear the crop top I got from American Apparel, but instead of wearing my faux leather overall dress, I swapped it for a pair of high waisted shorts. I got the shorts yesterday in the mail, and although it's a little too big for me- that, and the belt doesn't tighten it up enough for me- I still consider it a very good expense, since it was a lot cheaper than buying it at UO or wherever (My shorts had only cost me $12 as opposed to buying them anywhere else for $60). Finally I had paired this outfit with a pair a jelly sandals and a cute bow for a cute little nymphet look. Here are detailed pics of my outfit:
Hope you've enjoyed this post of mine. Happy Fourth everyone!

"You've got mail!" and new purchase!
Yesterday was TERRIBLE! So much stress at work, plus the recurrence of painful memories made me dread the thought of today even happening. Fortunately, work wasn't so bad; in fact, things were much quieter. And things only went uphill from there: on my break I had gone into a thrift store about two blocks away from where I work called The Arc. I wasn't expecting to find my of anything; I had gone into two others stores beforehand and was somewhat unimpressed; not to mention I only had so much time left on my break. Suddenly, I had taken a peek in the dress section and found this.....
Immediately I thought, "What a cute dress!" It was something along the line of cute vintage look that I've been going for lately. When I came though, I had made a shocking, but pleasant discovery: this dress was actually a romper! Even better! And the best part was, it only cost $5!
So, after a successful thrift store venture and a decent day at work, I had gone home to have my mother tell me that I had gotten a package. It was a pretty big package, which isn't something I normally get. But then it got me thinking, can this be? No way.........
My Demonia Creepers came in! Finally, I have waited so long for these! I had originally wanted them for Christmas, but never got them, and since my birthday is coming up (July 7!) I thought this the perfect time to get them. Happy Birthday to me!

Current Obsession: Denim DIY
This summer I've been obsessed with denim lately, in particular denim jackets. I was probably the very last one to hop on to the DIY bandwagon, but now I'm hooked! So far though, the only DIY projects I had gone through with were anything that had to do with denim; the reason being, I follow so many grunge Tumblrs, and after seeing so many awesome jackets, I just had to make one of my very own. For me, denim is one of the easiest things to manipulate, and is also the easiest to customize as your very own.
This jacket I had made over winter break. I had found this jacket in the basement one day, and this was a jacket that one of us three siblings wore in our childhood (so glad it still fits!). I bleached it, hoping it was all going to turn white, only to find out it didn't; I decided to keep it this way because it had a nice tye-dye effect. After bleaching it, I had dyed it pink and adorned it with skull studs. To make a jacket like this you can easily find fabric dye in any craft store or even the laundry section of the supermarket, and you can easily find the studs on Etsy as well!
The next piece is just a jacket that I had cut into a vest. I always change my mind about what I'm going to do with this vest, so it's still a work in progress. Don't worry though, there will be a lot more added on!
And last but not least....
This jacket is latest project. It was inspired by a jacket my friend Sophie has- at least the placement of the studs were. This was also the first time I had tried distressing denim. Free People has a great video on how to do so! The only thing different I did was that instead of throwing it into the washing machine over and over again- my mom would have killed me if I did- I had just continued using the sand paper to make the tears in the denim. I'm trying to go for a little bit of a riot grrl/feminism theme (can you tell?) with buttons and patches of my favorite female figures ever. So far, this has been my favorite project ever, and the best part is, is that it's still going.
Claire Boucher, Bjork, and Chloe Sevigny buttons- The Pulp Girls Alice Glass and Crystal Castles buttons- OhFuschia on Etsy |
I hope this has inspired some of you to experiment with denim; it's so much fun! I would also love to see pictures of your denim jackets in the near future.

New York City, our celestial paths meet again.
Today I'm going to New York to hang out with my friend Clarissa, a friend from high school that also go to FIT. This is the first time going back to the city since school has ended, and that makes me so excited to return to the new place I call home.
I had a hard time taking the pictures since my tripod wasn't cooperating with me, so I tried to take pictures of my complete outfit, as well as some detailed pics. Enjoy!
